What’s been happening lately

Life can throw a curveball occasionally. Just when you think it is going along smoothly, BAM! We got our mom/grandma into the nursing home since it was beginning to be dangerous for her to live on her home and a 40 hour workweek was still necessary. Plus, Christmas Eve of last year, she fell and was unable to get up. We do not know how long she laid on the floor of her bedroom, but my cousin went and checked on her and called the ambulance to take her to the hospital. Severely dehydrated and not knowing anything close to what happened, what was going on, or anything remotely connected to reality. An assisted living memory place was set up for her to go into just a few days after she fell, but she never recovered enough physically to live there. We got her into rehab for a month and then into a dementia unit in the nursing home.

We got her home emptied and, before we even were able to list it for sale, someone my son worked with, bought it for what we were asking. Also, sold her car quickly. With the money, it will allow her to keep paying for the nursing home for a few more months before having to apply for Medicaid. While she has had a few falls, she is doing fine, all things considered.

Then is when life threw us another curveball. A young lady who has been considered family for around 10 years has had a health crisis and has been in the hospital for around a month. She already suffered from a disability and this recent health scare is not helping. Right now, she is recovering but still has a long way to go. We do not know if she will get back to the way she was or if her health will continue to suffer. She is in her early twenties so she may rebound and surprise us all.

Ultimately, Katie and I are continuing to craft, just slower than usual and posting on Facebook and instagram is sometimes a struggle. Just letting everyone know that we still enjoy making new and cute items and hope everyone will help us push through this thing called life!
